5 Fashion Rules Every Man Should Know

In the past articles we've been focusing on some fashion tips specifically for women, but don't worry boys, we haven't forgotten about you! So here are a few fashion rules every man should know! 

   The first one is wear a suit well. The key to a suit looking good is fit, especially in the shoulders and chest area. The best and most useful is a classic - dark, two-button, single-breasted, moderate in details. Because it's not about the suit, it's the way you wear it.

   It's amazing how sometimes the little things are the ones that flatter your outfit the most. Like a watch. But be careful, watches are personal but they also have to be practical. That's why you should invest in it wisely. A watch should fit you, it should feel comfortable and be in the right size and depth. If you need help with that, 40 mm is considered the 'Goldilocks' size. 

   When it comes to shirts, stick with the classics. Try to avoid bold styles and go for a collar that works with or without a tie and that always sits properly under a jacket. But don't worry you can mess with the colors. In fact, don't shy away from them. Whether it's for casualwear or formalwear, don't be scared to add a touch of colour. Maybe try wearing a green suit or even pinks, mustard or brighter shades of blue are shades that will lift your outfit throught out the whole year. But again be careful. When it comes to colour, less is still more. 

   Another very useful tip, is spend money on shoes. Keep them basic, with simple design but you're looking for quality so don't be afraid to invest more money in them. Try classic styles like brogues, loafers or a plain, dark Derby on a round-toe last. It's the shape of the shoe that really counts and round never goes out of fashion. Plus it's practical, because it's way more comfortable than pointy toes or square toes. 

   And the last one and most important one - look after your appearance. If you've invested in clothes you have to look after it. Use wooden hangers for shirts and shoe trees for your best shoes, have your suit dry-cleaned and pressed, wash your clothes regularly and polish your shoes. You also might want to establish a simple but solid grooming regime, brush your hair and cut your nails. There is nothing more attractive than a man who cares for himself!
