The fire season began in July which is much earlier than normal and the bushfires are much wider. It is not even the peak of the bushfire season and flames have been reported to have reached 70 meters high.
Fire, smoke and inferno cover five and a half million square kilometers, that´s about size of Europe. Thick black cloud is now drifting towards New Zealand and has already covered the glaciers and scientists say, because of that the glaciers might melt down much faster and probably be gone by the end of the century.
It came at the worst possible time of Christmas holidays, when there are loads of people, that makes the evacuation even more chaotic. Some people don´t want to leave, some are trying, but it is difficult because of the various road closures.
At least 23 people have already died and many are injured. For animals it is said that it might be even higher number than 480 millions. Experts say that this crisis is showing no sign of ending yet.
