Welcome to my project. I'm gladyou opened this project and hope that you will enjoy reading it and find some things you didn't know.

First, I want to tell you what basketball is and some rules that players must comply with.

Basketball is a team sport in which two teams of five players, opposing one another, compete with each other. Their goal is to shoot a ball through the defender's hoop while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their hoop. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins. Players advance the ball by bouncing it while walking, running (dribbling), or passing it to a teammate.

There are three basic ways to reach points. The first, which is the most common method, is a basket that a player throws into the hoop from a medium or close distance. This basket is then rated 2 points.

The other way is a three-point basket that a player achieves if he places the basket behind a three-point line.

And the last way to put the basket is when one player makes a foul. Then the player shoots from the foul line, which is worth one point.

Basketball games are made up of four 8 (for younger players), 10 (for older and adults) or 12 (in NBA) minutes long quarters. After two quarters, there is a halftime break that takes mostly 15 minutes long. Between other quarters there are 2 minutes short break.

During the game, you can also have a brief pause. And that's when your coach takes a timeout. Then you have 1 minute to rest.

If the game is tied after regulation time, there will be overtime. Overtime is 5 minutes long in most leagues. And if the game is tied even after overtime, there will be another overtime until one team wins.

Basketball is sometimes called a non-contact sport. Although there is plenty of legal contact between players, some contact is considered illegal. If an official decides the contact is illegal, they will call a personal foul. Each player can have only five personal fouls.
