Coffee painting

Yep, you can paint with coffee. Not only it looks absolutely gorgeous, but it smells (and tastes) nice too. And you don't have to buy expensive materials.

Painting with coffee is actually a centuries old technique. It appeared as coffee colonized Europe. Similar to this, Chinese people used tea for backgrounds of their paintings. Coffee was also used to make marble statues look older.

We're going to need: instant coffee, watercolor paper, brushes, water and 3-4 small cups/palette. Put some coffee powder in the cups and add different amounts of water in each cup to create different shades of color. Less coffee with more water will create a lighter shade, more coffee with less water will create darker. Mix it properly.

Now onto painting! Always start off with the lightest color, then the next layer with the darker one, and end with the darkest. The layered effect of this method looks very beautiful and the patience really pays off here.

Well and there's really not much else to it. So let it dry and make yourself a nice cup of coffee.
