Dear readers, just one small step into east countries. This time it is a country that belongs to the Middle East. It´s the country known for the neverending conflicts. It is true that they are still happing there, but let´s have a look at the other things too.

Yes, I am talking about Syria, the country placed under Turkey in the Middle East and it's mostly covered by a desert and divided by a river Eufrat. The capital city is Damascus.

What about the food there? It is definitely affected by French cuisine a little bit. It includes a lot of vegetables and also meat. As an example, I can mention Arabian bread, or kebab, and some types of cheeses. Syria is also known for their sweets, the most famous is baklava I guess.

For their culture, dance is very important.

And what about some holidays and events they are celebrating? There is, for example, the Cotton Festival, because their region is well known for this product and they love to show it and people are joining this festival to buy things for only a cheap price.

Then, there is an Arabic book fair. It is very popular and the goal is to show some Arabic literature to the people.

And of course, as most of the population is Muslim, they celebrate the end of Ramadan and many other Muslim holidays.

I guess that people, in general, are very generous and friendly, but also very affected by the wars and conflicts that are still ruining this country. Right now, since the Arab spring in 2011, there is a civil war with more than two sides. So the whole country is torn by conflicts and kids here doesn't even know what peace is. I just hope the situation will get better soon.
