Poland - Cultures IV

Poland

We are moving to the East, to Poland. It is a very religious country, almost 90 percent here are Christians, which is I think very important when we want to talk about this country because it is reflected in its culture.

And what about the cuisine here? The traditional food here is pierogi, which are dumplings, or kasza- grain. Then kluski- also dumplings and bigos, which is a cabbage and meat dish.

When we will talk about the most important holidays, there is New Year, Three Kings and of course Easter, also Women's Day, International Workers Day, Day of the constitution,

Children's Day, Assumption of Mary, All Saints Day, Independence Day and Christmas. We can see there are more holidays than in the Czech Republic, is because, in Poland, they are celebrating Christians holidays, like the Assumption of Mary and so on. In the Czech Republic, those significant days are not public holidays, because our country is mostly atheist.

And now, something about people. My friend from Poland thinks that people here are intolerant and that they are saying some very uncomfortable opinions, for example about appearance. I wasn't thinking they are intolerant, even if I heard that there is a lot of hate against the LQBT+ community. And in my opinion, they are strong a lot, because they have been tested in the past a lot as they were attacked by Russia and other countries.
