Dear readers welcome to the next chapter of my project. Staying in South America, we will take a look at Brazil. The biggest country here and actually also the fifth largest country in the world.

It is the only country through which the equator and the tropic of Capricorn pass. In the northern part of the country, there is rainforest. And the Amazon river, the longest river in the world.

There is a tropical climate, warm all year and it rains a lot, only one place in the northeast is dry.

What about the food here? The traditional food is called feijoada. It is made by slaves. It is a dish with meat and beans.

Another tradition is for example carnival. I think it is also the most famous. It is a huge and beautiful party, well known in the whole world. It takes place between the Friday before Ash Wednesday and Ash Wednesday noon.

Most of the tourists who travel to Brazil, come to see the statue of Redeeming Christ in Rio de Janeiro, which is one of the most visited cities here. The capital is Brasilia, but it is not the biggest. Also, which is a lot interesting, the city was built in 1960. So it is a very young city. Before, the capital was Rio de Janeiro, but in 1822, shortly after the country became independent, people wanted to make a new capital. It took a long time until the realisation of this project. Now, the city is in UNESCO.

People themselves are very friendly, but racism is still a strong point here, even if many people are fighting it little by little.
