Discovering Kenya

Have you ever wanted to see Africa? Then go for it!
It all started with a flight from Berlin. And I have to mention that I am not a fan of flying! After a few hours on a plane we had to transfer in Istanbul. I thought okay, yes, just 3-4 more hours on plane. I'll make that. After finding out that from Istanbul to Mombasa, it takes 7-8 hours I almost fainted. I have to mention that I survived - which seems to be clear (Even though it was a horrible flight for me, with a lot of turbulence and a big storm!).
After all those hours on the plane we were finally in Kenya. The dream could start. The only obstacle was the two hour long drive to our resort. Well, it was around 50km away but with the dusty roads which are in Kenya, it took us 2 hours. But at least we saw a big part of real Kenya, not just the touristy places.
We finally arrived in our resort. It was absolutely beautiful. Small kinds of houses - trying to look like typical African ones. A lot of delicious Kenyan food which you absolutely have to try! But this kind of stuff you can have anywhere in any hotel.
The most important thing I want to talk about is the
amazing nature in Kenya!
It wouldn't be possible to leave Kenya without trip to Safari! We chose a two
days trip with one night in a hotel (It was Hilton! They have Hilton hotels in
the middle of national parks!)
We visited the Tsavo East National Park, which was around 8
hours away from our hotel, but it was so worth it! We were of course hoping to
see the Big Five (lions, leopards, rhinoceros, elephants and cape buffaloes). We
got lucky and met around 12 lions - that usually doesn't happen; then we saw
really many beautiful elephants, giraffes, zebras and all those smaller
animals. We drove in a jeep for two days looking for animals and it was so great to
see them living safely in a national park.
If you ever go somewhere to Africa, go to a safari. It's honestly a lifetime
experience.
I have met so many amazing happy people living in Kenya, even though they don't have much, they were some of the nicest people I have ever met. Sometimes we think we have everything, when we have all the money, technology and stuff, but those people are really happy, living simple but beautiful lives.
