Fashion Week

The most important events for fashion are definitely Fashion weeks. It lasts approximately one week and during this time designers, brands or houses are showing the latest collections to buyers and media so it influences trends for the current and upcoming seasons very much. The biggest and most prominent fashion weeks are held in the "Big four" cities about which we were talking in previous articles. But as the fashion scene becomes more multipolar in the 21st century other cities around the world like Sydney, São Paulo, Mumbai, Dubai, Shanghai, or Jakarta host fashion weeks too.

The most hyped fashion event was first held back in 1973 in Paris and high-fashion designers like Givenchy and Saint Laurent have been attending it since then. One of the most influential fashion weeks takes place in the fashion hub, Milan. The city has become a hub of high fashion from the likes of Armani, Dolce and Gabbana, Versace or Prada. And last but definitely not least favorite fashion week which I want to mention is New York Fashion Week. Its history is richer than other fashion weeks because it was held first in 1942 as the "Press Week" and since that time has been successfully running as New York Fashion Week for decades now.

Every fashion show must be special, catchy, and memorable. So that's why designers come up with incredible ideas for locations for their show or for the collection themes. Show can be anywhere and I´m going to tell you the most imaginative ones. One of the most original location for this show was sand mountain. Don´t you believe? It is true. Another example is from 2007 when Karl Lagerfeld´s catwalk show for Fendi went too far as to make use of the Great Wall of China as its backdrop. Last one which totally took my breath away when I found out about it was also a Fendi fashion show. This show was located at the famous Italian Fontana di Trevi and models were walking on the glass runway overlooking the pool of water and this big event was opened by supermodel Kendall Jenner.
