I have an option for all of you, how can you personally do something commendable and help people, who do not have that much luck in their lives. On 12 in November this fall there is a charity event and you can be easily part of it. The food collection is organized in all regions of our republic by food banks and the Czech Federation of Food Banks in cooperation with the Trade and Tourism Association and the Association of Social Responsibility. By buying food or something from the drugstore you´ll help children and people to have happier and easier lives. I think most of us take these things for granted and all of us can buy at least something small without any problems, but for these people these things are something like christmas presents under the christmas tree.
Other social partners are: Charita Česká republika, Salvation Army, NADĚJE, People in Need and Silesian Diakonie, and the retail chains Albert, Billa, COOP, dm drogerie markt, Globus, Kaufland, Lidl, MAKRO, Penny Market, ROSSMANN, Tesco, Rohlik. cz and Košík.cz. The main transport partner is Raben Logistics Czech. The food collection is carried out under the auspices of the Minister of Agriculture Zdenek Nekula and the European Federation of Food Banks.
And how does it work?
On 12/11/2022, visit the nearest store involved in the Food Collection from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Add non-perishable food or something from the drugstore to your shopping. Behind the cash registers, donate food to volunteers, you can easily recognize them by their green apron with the collection's logo.
The selected food will be transported to the nearest food bank, where it will be sorted, inspected and prepared for the receiving non-profit organizations
The food bank will hand over the food to the receiving non-profit organizations
The food reaches the final clients. These are often single mothers, lonely seniors or families in crisis.
Where to buy these things?
Selected stores of the following retail chains are involved: Albert, Billa, COOP, dm drogerie, Globus, Kaufland, Lidl, MAKRO, PENNY, ROSSMANN, Tesco and online stores Košík.cz, Rohlík.cz, iTesco. Find the nearest store on the map, add non-perishable food or drugstore items to your purchase and hand them over to volunteers behind the cash registers. But you can also help online from the comfort of your home.
What to buy?
You can help the most by buying basic non-perishable food and products from drug stores. There is still a shortage of these products in food banks.
Food that help the most: canned goods, baby food, soups, shelf-stable milk, oil, rice and pulses, pasta, basic and children's products from the drugstore
Who can we help?
Selected food and things from drug stores go directly to the customer's non-profit organizations through regional food banks, which help, for example, abandoned seniors, single mothers, families in crisis, homeless people, and people with mental and physical disabilities.
In 2021, food banks helped 200,000 people in need through 1 175 non-profit organizations. The journey of donated food is short. The donor helps directly in his region.
You can become a volunteer!
The best thing is, that you can really easily become a volunteer and on the 12 in November donate food but also your time! You can help in these shops, Inform customers about the collection, who the help is intended for and what can be donated. Hand out information leaflets with a list of food and drug stores suitable for donation at the entrance. Collect food and drugstore goods from donors into prepared shopping baskets with the collection's logo behind the cash registers. Stack the selected goods in designated boxes ("banana boxes") so that they are ready for removal by a food bank or other non-profit organization.
