Fun Facts about the TV show Friends

For those who love Friends and know this series very well, I think this list of fun facts would be very interesting and surprising. When I found out about them, I was shocked.

1) Although Friends live in New York in Greenwich Village and it is characteristic of them, the show was filmed in LA, Burbank at Warner Bros. Studios. It is kinda shocking, isn't it?!

2) Before the show was cast, the main love interest was intended to be Monica and Joey.

3) Rachel was originally supposed to be played by Courteney Cox, but when she read the script she begged to rather play Monica, because she was more like her. Courteney actually cleaned others´ dressing rooms, just like Monica would do.

4) Rachel´s haircut was the most iconic haircut of all times, every woman wanted her haircut. What is very interesting, Jennifer Aniston actually hated this iconic Rachel haircut.

5) Romance between Ross and Rachel wasn't supposed to happen. Creators made it because of the chemistry between Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer. And another fact to them is that their break-up was not supposed to happen either, but creators thought it would be fun.

6) There was a pact where was written that anyone of the 6 main cast members can´t sleep with each other. A lot of people were curious how they can be so ok and not date with somebody of the cast, if they are together every day, the answer is that it was prohibited. David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc once admitted that at the very beginning of the show they had a crush on Jennifer Aniston. And Matt once said that not only did he have a crush on her, the whole world did.

7) Friends had several working titles such as Friends Like Us, Six Of One, Once Upon A Time in The West Village, Across The Hall, Insomnia Café before settling on simply Friends.

8) Matthew Perry once confirmed that he is very similar to Chandler Bing - he is also very sarcastic and funny and he makes jokes all the time (btw he was the one and only of the cast that could help the writers with making the jokes in the show). And he also is bad with women, he is scared to ask them for a date, same like Chandler. And another fact to Matthew Perry, he admitted that he had very big troubles with addiction to alcohol and drugs and he didn't really remember the seasons 3-6...

9) Monica and Chandler romance was not supposed to continue, it was made as a one night-stand but people loved it so much that the writers changed it to a relationship.

10) All of them were very good friends in real life. The first year of the show they used to get together and watch the episodes, most often it was at Courteney´s place (she really is a host as Monica). And girls, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow for all 10 years of filming had lunch together every day and Jennifer ate the same food, some salad, every day for 10 years.

11) In the show starred a lot of Hollywood celebrities for example Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, George Clooney, Winona Ryder, Bruce Willis, Reese Witherspoon, Christina Applegate, Ben Stiller, Brooke Shields, Cole Sprouse, Charlie Sheen, Danny DeVito, Susan Sarandon, Sean Penn, Hugh Laurie, Paul Rudd, Robin Williams, Alec Baldwin, Fergie, Elle Macpherson, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Tom Selleck, Jennifer Grey and a lot of others.

12) Every episode was filmed in front of a live studio audience of 300 to 400 people, except for episodes ending in cliffhangers. And before every episode all 6 cast members would hug each other for good luck.

13) Matt LeBlanc used his first paycheck from Friends to buy a hot diner, Courteney Cox bought a car. Kinda funny.

14) Relationship between Rachel and Joey was not well liked by the cast, chiefly by 2 main representatives (Jennifer Aniston and Matt LeBlanc) and by audience neither.

15) The cast got paid 22,000 dollars an episode in the first season. In the tenth season they got paid 1,000,000 dollars an episode.

16) None of the cast members were fans of the theme song. When they were filming the main scene in front of the fountain that is always in the intro, it was 4 a.m. all of them were not in a good mood and they had to film how they are splashing on each other with water. And that's where this song plays.
