How to Study Efficiently ? Pomodoro Technique!

The end of the school year is slowly approaching and with it a whole bunch of tests is coming. After almost a whole school year being home, some of us might have even forgotten how to actually study efficiently. If you are one of these people, keep reading to find out what the pomodoro technique is and how it can feasibly save your grades.
The Pomodoro technique is basically a time management method. It was developed in the 1980s by a man called Francesco Cirillo. Francesco decided that it would be more effective, if he split all of his work into shorter time intervals using a timer. Between the work periods he would have a short break. The reason this is called a pomodoro technique is simple. It is because when he studied he actually used a timer in the shape of a tomato, which in Italian means pomodoro.
Now let me describe to you how exactly you would study if you used the pomodoro technique. First step is obviously to choose a specific task you want to complete. Then you have to set a timer for 25 minutes, which is the most commonly used amount of minutes utilised for the work period. However you can also work for 50 minutes or any other amount of time. It is completely up to you. Next step is pretty simple. Work! Use all your focus on the task in front of you and for the next 25 minutes try to focus on the task and on the task only. When you hear your timer, set it for 5 minutes and take a small break. Repeat this whole process 4x before taking a bigger break.
To make your pomodoro studying even better, here are a few of my personal tips. First of all try to get rid of any possible distractions. Turn your phone on silent so nothing disturbs you during your work period. Next tip is one of my favourites. Keep a piece of paper and a pen on your desk. When you suddenly get an idea or you remember that you have to do something later, write it down. This way, you know you won't forget it and at the same time you can let go of the thought of it and you can get straight back to doing your task. My very last tip is very individual in my opinion. For me it is a lot easier to focus with some instrumental music or ASMR in the background. You can find a lot of these on youtube and some of them are even already split into 25 minute pomodoros with breaks, so it can also be used as a timer.
