Josef Fritzl was born on April 9th 1935 in an Austrian city Amstetten. In 1956 when he was 21 he married 17 year old Rosemarie with who he had 2 sons and 5 daughters including Elisabeth. In 1967 he was sent to jail for raping a woman and he has spent there 12 out of 18 months.

On September 28th 1984 Fritzl asked 18 year old Elisabeth, who he started eaping already since she was 11 years old, to help him in the cellar of their family house. When they were down there he knocked her unconscious and traped her in there using hadcuffs. He had built a primitive, but soudproof appartment there. He made her wrote a letter to her mother explaining that she ran away and joined a cult. He would rape her everyday and he even had 7 kids with her. Three of them lived in the cellar with Elisabeth, three of them lived in the house, Fritzl always told his wife that Elisabeth left them in front of their house herself, and one of them died. Because of that he was also sentenced for murder, as he rejected to help to save his life. On April 19th 2008 his daughter and his granddaughter at the same time Krestin fall down unconscious. He agreed to give her medical help. That was the first time in 24 years when Elisabeth first saw the outside world, as she was helping Fritzl to get Krestin out of the cellar. Two days later the hospital contacted the police as the they found all of it suspicious. After Fritzl agreed on Elisabeth and her children to go to the haspital, the police put them all on detention. After the police guaranteed safety to Elisabeth and her children she told them everything.

At the court Fritzl confessed three points of his indicment - kidnapping, raping and incest. After watching Elisabeth's 11 hour video statement he confessed even the last two poits - enslavement and murder - saying that the video of his daughter broke him.

On March 19th 2009 was Fritzl sentenced to life imprisonment.
