Killarney riding stables

30.06.2024

Hello after a while, I have been busy which contributed to no article post last week. Anyway, I am back and today I thought I would write about something connected to where I am staying now. You might have noticed I have already written about the Killarney national park, but not the stables. If you are a horse lover, you will find this article amusing, if you are not, well, I still hope you will find this article at least a bit cool. Let's get to it, shall we?

Located about a mile west of Killarney Town and known locally as "O'Sullivans," Killarney riding stables were established in 1968 by Donie O'Sullivan and is still very much a family business with Donie's wife Noreen, their two daughters Aoife and Lorraine, and son William all involved.

The stables are nowadays home to 87 horses, including a few ponies. As the stables are adjacent to the Killarney National Park, the casual customers can enjoy daily rides of one, two or three hours. The stables also organize so-called long-distance rides, where customers and guides trek round the ring of Kerry all the way up to the beaches by the Atlantic ocean. Those undergoing such a ride must pack all essentials as the rides last a couple of days and the customers with guides sleep in horse-accessible and friendly accommodations on the way.

Killarney is - especially for its stunning nature, park, views, lakes, scenery – one of the favorite places in Ireland and exploring it from horseback brings on a totally different vibe, atmosphere and way point of view.

Apart from exploring with your eyes, the guides provide educational insights, enhancing people with facts about the area and the park and therefore enhancing the overall riding experience.

The stables also offer international internships, meaning students can for example come throughout the year, live in a student house and work as interns, getting to know the way things work and going on rides to the park with customers.

The stables are open year-round, allowing visitors to enjoy horse riding in different seasons, each offering its unique beauty. Additionally, the stables are easily accessible from the town of Killarney as they are located just on the outskirts of the town. That makes it convenient for its visitors.

All in all, there are plenty of things to do in Killarney and visiting the stables could be an extraordinary experience.

Have a fine time and take care of yourselves!

Bye

:D
