RED SCARE, SPACE RACE

As you know Cold War wasn't war in the right sense as
you probably imagine war. The American from who I had these stories told me that
if you want to remember Cold War you should remember two worlds - red scare and
space race.
Red Scare is a scare of communism or radical leftism. Americans
were really afraid of it and they really didn't want it in the country because
they appreciate freedom really a lot.
They were afraid of their neighbours, everyone could
be considered as communist and then be killed.
Another point is a space race.
It started after WWII. when von Braun from Nazi
Germany made up first ballistic missile and after war Americans
got von Braun and his team to their own team. Americans officially said that
they will send first satellite to the space. Unfortunately, USSR was interested
in that too but Americans thought that it's impossible that USSR would be
better than them.
But surprise surprise, USSR had the first satellite
in the space, first dog in the space and first man in the space. Americans were
surprised a lot and also disappointed. But John F. Kennedy in 1961 made a
speech that they will send a man to the Moon to the end of this decade. In the
1969 they sent Apollo 11 with Neil Armstrong.
Cold War didn't end at one exact day but
slowly just disappeared. They were a lot different important events that
happened like assassination of Kennedy, war in Korea or Vietnam. But maybe now,
you'll remember Cold War better with this little help.
