As you can see on our GPJP Times Main page, this Friday, 14th Oct 2022 "Taste Erasmus" event took place at the French Institute in Prague, and we couldn't miss it.

The main idea of this event was to bring young people closer to Spanish, French and German cultures and also show them options for studying in these countries with the Erasmus program. During this event, people could enjoy one Spanish, one German and at the end one French movie. During two breaks between films, they could also taste their traditional dishes.

First shown was a Spanish film called Campeones (champions). This movie, in particular, was selected because it's really popular in Spain. The movie tells a story of a professional basketball coach who has a quarrel with the lead coach of his team and has to leave. He gets drunk, commits several traffic violations and ends up in the police station. As a punishment, he must at least for 90 days visit a basketball centre for mentally disabled people and train them as a team. Despite many obstacles, they manage to win many basketball games and make it out to second place in the whole tournament.

During these 90 days, the team grows to the coach's heart, but he has to leave at the end because he gets an offer from a professional team. I love this film because the story is fun and more realistic than in other movies, especially the American ones that can be, in some cases, really bad and predictable.

After the film, there were prepared food stands and study information from each country. First, we tasted authentic Spanish Paella. It was unbelievably delicious with a nice tinge of burning sensation. For dessert, we had Prague pie which was perfectly sweet.

For a second movie, we were shown a German film, "Almanya, Willkommen in Deutschland" (Almanya, welcome in Germany). This movie is about a family originally from Almanya (part of Turkey) that lives two generations in Germany and their story of how their grandparents got to Germany.

What I love about this film is that it's unpredictable in many ways and still told in a funny way that I enjoyed so much. It's maybe my favourite one from all three films.

Next, we returned to the hall with study information stands and food stands. As a cherry on top, we tasted unbeatable French macarons. You could feel like you were in Paris for a second when you bit into them. We were amazed at how the study information stands looked in total. They were really great, and we had to take a poster with a map of Spain.

Last shown was a French movie, "L'auberge Espagnole" (The Spanish inn). The story follows a French university student who decides to study in Spain for a year with the Erasmus program. This movie was specifically chosen for us because it became quite a cult among teenage people.
