The key’s story
Once upon the time… Well, some five years ago, I was at the second grade of primary school. My parents made an important decision: They would leave us alone for the first time in the evening, because they were going to the theatre. I was very happy at first! They usually left us with our nanny or someone adult, but never alone! In the next moment, I got scared. My small brother was only five years old, what if something happened? Eventually joy prevailed.
The day had come. When parents went out, we ate some pizza and we slowly went to sleep. I only said: I locked the door. For sure. Then I left the key tucked in the lock…
My parents came home at 1 AM (a play was very long). My dad slipped the key in the lock, turned and… Nothing happened! He started clutching the key "Oh no!" said mum "they probably left the key in! "Damn," dad groaned.
They tried to ring my cell phone and ring the doorbell. The apartment was probably very noisy! And we? Did we wake up and open them? No way! We slept happily on…Then they tried to knock out the door or break the window-unsuccessfully. "On the bright side," said mum "it seems our apartment is super safe!"
After ten minutes, the neighbours woke up, because they heard strange noise. Our parents explained the situation to them. They asked whether we were alive (it scared my mum a little) and then they lent them a hammer. But nothing worked.
Eventually mum and dad had to call the locksmith. We only learned the truth at breakfast. Our parents decided not to hurry. It took a year to stay home alone for the second time…
