Food is one of the most important things in everybody's life. We usually eat, because we don't want to die (or we do, but starvation is plaguesome). But sometimes, we eat food because it has an awesome taste. That is sushi for me.

Sushi is food that comes from Japan. It means sour taste. It is usually made from rice and sushinoko, which is a sweet-sour sauce made from apple or rice vinegar, sugar and salt. We can cover the rice with sea-grass (nori is the one usually used), and stuff it with meat, eggs or vegetables. The meat can be for example salmon, tuna, or shrimp. From vegetables, it's avocado, carrot, or cucumber.

There are many types of sushi. The most famous one is maki. In maki, the rice is covered with nori and stuffed with whatever you find. The second famous type of sushi is onigiri. It is a ball or triangle shaped rice with a sea-weed rectangle at the bottom. Under the sea-grass, we can find for example salmon or pickled plums. Rice in onigiri isn't soaked in sushinoko sauce, but it can be a little bit salted. Onigiri was also taken with samurais to war as a quick and nutritional snack.

Then there is nigirizushi. It is rice under some kind of fish. Usually, tuna, salmon or shrimp is used. It is eaten fish downwards to enjoy the taste of the fish.

Chirashi is something like a sushi salad. All sushi ingredients like rice, fish, caviar, omelette, and vegetables are used. You can add soy sauce or wasabi to it.

Inarizushi is rice in a soy cover. In ancient Japan, it was the food of poor people.

Oshizushi means pressed sushi. Rice is intercut with flavouring and fish. It has a rectangle shape and it is served with salmon on top.

Sashimi is a special kind of sushi. It is only meat without any rice. Sashimi is served with soy sauce and wasabi. We tend to think that sashimi is a starter, but in Japan, it is served with the main dish.
